How profoundly sad

I will never see this kind of thing the same way ever again...

2 Chron 7:14:

if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray
and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from
heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

It's time to humble ourselves, pray, seek the face of God and turn from wickedness! I don't think there's any doubt that our land needs healing. It's often pointed out that this verse is directed at God's people, not at the world. He will heal the land because of His people. We cannot blame the wickedness around us, the worldliness around us. It's up to believers to be the people God called us to be.

  2. I agree with you in every way that we need to pray and seek the face of God. I also think this land needs healing, but when you hear healing what comes to mind? That there will be less of this kind of thing? Or that people will be healed from the effects of these things. Because honestly I don't believe it's going to get any better. I'm not trying to be pesimistic, believe me. I don't want to have my children grow up in a world that is only going to get worse but unfortunantly I think that's the case. I think there will be more and more of this here and all over the world. People have always been wicked and evil has always been around. Read 2Tim 3:1-6 Untill Jesus returns these things will just keep happening. You know what I mean? I do think that we have to be the people that God called us to be and bring more people to Christ but I don't think that tragedy like this will get any less.

  3. Shelly - Vday post is yet to come. ;)

Irene - That is a really good point... I have no idea what healing will mean. The Bible promises this will happen leading up to Jesus' return, but there are also many many prophesies that must be fulfilled before He will come. It might be hundreds of years or more before it happens. Or those things could all happen very quickly. When Israel would turn back to God, from what I can tell, their culture actually changed back to one of worshipping God. I could see God orchestrating a major revival in the U.S. The U.S. could also collaspe within the next few hundred years - it's following a pattern familiar to history (like the Roman Civilization).
