Down Day

I'm having a bit of a rough day...actually, if I'm honest, it's been a tough past month.

We're feeling the gas and food increases around here. We're seriously considering having Nick take another part time job to help out. That would probably put him at 65-70 hours per week. All of the business opportunities we're working on are growing, they're just not growing quite fast enough. Our other option is for me to get a job, and we don't feel like that's the right thing to do.

Long story, but I have a foot issue (not athlete's foot) that is incredibly painful, and that has been keeping me off my feet as much as I can get away with it. I think we're finally going to bite the bullet and have me go to the doctor about it. More money. Sigh.

Because I've been off my feet a lot, my house is a mess. It's pretty bad, folks. Hard to not get discouraged about it actually.

I haven't written much real content here recently, simply because I don't have much to say. I am seeking God for strength. I am reading John Bevere's Drawing Near. I am working on taking every thought captive. I am taking naps several times a week while the girls nap. I am actually exercising consistently for the first time in my life. I'm faithfully doing the things I feel God has called me to. I'm saying no to anything new.

But I'm tired.

We had a great, fun trip this weekend that we've been planning for months. The only problem with vacations is the coming home part...

I'm ready for things to ease up a little.

  2. Hey. I don't really know what to say accept that you will pull through it somehow. Go listen to that song by Don Moen "God Will make a Way" it's a childhood memory of mine.My mom always had me listen to it when I was down. It's not up beat or even very contemoprary but the words ring true. I'll pray for you (really.)

  4. First let me say that I"m flattered that you added me on as a link! Thanks for sharing the love!

I'm so sorry about your "down time"; we've recently been through a similar thing and nothing anyone could say to us made it any easier except what one of our pastors said:

He said that the Western church was under attack, and in our church specifically probably about 70-80 percent of the congregation was in a "storm", as he put it. He felt that God was working on us to deepen our roots into our relationship with Him, and the devil was using really legitimate things (like no car, so you can't go to church) to keep us out of fellowship.

For some reason, knowing that we weren't alone in it made it easier. It's past now for us (it lasted from Christmas Eve till April, I think), and looking back I can see how we grew as a family tremendously during that time.

    I'll be praying for you...and here's a hug OOOO

  5. Thanks, everyone. I really appreciate the prayers and encouragement.

Shelly - I added all of the blogs I enjoy reading, and yours is one of them! :) The last five updated are the ones that actually show at the top of the list, so you'll be up there right after you post. The others on the list show when you click on "more."

Actually, what you were talking about totally resonates with me as well. You know, if I had been able to find satisfaction in financial things, health, my kids, my home, any of that, my hunger for God would have been drastically reduced.

I often feel like God has directed me to a certain book for a certain season. John Bevere's "Drawing Near" is one of those. Perfect. Exactly what I need. Probably life-changing.

  6. Sara, you know we're here for you. I would love to help any way you need, or if you just need to talk. I'm not doing anything tomorrow so if you want me and my big belly to come over and clean and do laundry for you, I'd be more than happy to! Just let me know. We are praying for you guys. One thing we so appreciate about you is that you're so consistent with your stewardship. You guys are so diligent with what God's given you and I know He will bless you for that. My sister-in-law reminded me today that sometimes He brings us through a period of pruning but it doesn't mean we're not being blessed. It's just for a season. It's so true but still hard. Keep pressing into God - He will speak to you through this season and He will reward your diligence. We love you guys. I didn't mean to write a little novel, it just came out! :)

  8. Sara-I really wish I lived in Colorado so I could go clean your house for you (even though you would protest) and keep you company while you can't move around so much. I'd do it too...for real. I love you!
