I've been starting to think about how I want to handle chores for our kids. Hannah is getting to the age where she can do some things. At this point, brushing her teeth, making her bed to the best of her ability, putting away the silverware, and putting toys in the toy basket are all things she can do. Audrey can even help pick up toys. I found this today. And this a few days ago. In fact, Dave Ramsey recommends starting to teach about money at age 3, along with giving an allowance.
Do your kids do chores? Any tips?

My kids do chores. Cole cleans his room, picks up toys, puts the silverware away, helps take out the trash on trash night, he even likes to vaccum. Cooper being 2, we ask him to pick up his toys and that is about it.
ReplyDeleteChores are actually a lot of fun around here. We get the rolls of nickles from the bank and for every chore Chan does he gets 3 nickles. He has 3 piggy banks and puts one in each. One to save, one to spend, and one to give at church. He really enjoys it. We are about to start Sky on it too because she ends up helping him any way. Thats the nice thing about having your kids so close in age. We bought the little white clay piggy banks from walmart and they painted them.
ReplyDeleteThat is so weird. My friend Jacinda just made almost the same exact post on her blog a couple days ago. She is linked on mine if you want to look at it. She got some interesting comments.
ReplyDeleteMy 3 and 5 year old wanted to do dishes last night and I let them. They did a pretty good job. We might retire the dishwasher for a while and let them at it. I try to find things that each one enjoys and is good at and let that be their domain. Our princess is better at folding towels whereas our little man enjoys dusting and doing the toilets. Praise God that after 5 years, I finally have help cleaning up all of our messes!
